  1.              Basic Guidelines for Current Notes authors :

  4.      Please try to remember that you are writing for audiences that 
  5. may be completely unfamiliar with the product or topic being 
  6. discussed.  Write for the lowest common denominator (novice), but add 
  7. enough information to satisfy those that are more informed.
  8.  
  9.      Break up your writing into paragraphs of a reasonable length.  
  10. Add subject headings periodically so as to give a sense of 
  11. organization and to keep the article from appearing to be a long 
  12. discourse.  Screen captures (preferably ST high resolution) or .IMG 
  13. files are nice, photographs are also acceptable.
  14.  
  15.      Give your article a title and list your name the way you would 
  16. like it to appear in Current Notes.  Submit a short biography that I 
  17. can print at the end of the article to let readers know who you are.
  18.  
  19.      If a product is mentioned, be sure to have the name of the 
  20. company (after the first product mention) and the name of the product 
  21. itself correctly identified.  I like to see a list at the end of the 
  22. article of each product mentioned, but that is not necessary.

  24.      All articles should be submitted to me in either 1st Word Plus, 
  25. Word Writer or ASCII format.  Do not put spaces between paragraphs, 
  26. but do put spaces between the end of a paraphraph and a subject 
  27. heading.  Use a TAB to indent paragraphs.  The article will be 
  28. proofread for any spelling or basic grammar errors but major changes 
  29. will not be made without contacting you.

  31.      I prefer that articles be sent to me via email.  I have accounts 
  32. on GEnie and Delphi.  Archive your submission with ZIP, LZH, or ARC 
  33. before sending it to me.  If you have any questions on how to do this, 
  34. contact me and I will help you out.

  36.                          Notes for Reviewers
  37.  
  38.      Try to identify good and bad points clearly.  There is no such 
  39. thing as a perfect program, so constructively suggest areas for 
  40. improvement.  Important things to mention in your review : quality of 
  41. owner's manual, hard drive installation, copy protection, disk space 
  42. required, RAM required, resolutions that the program will work with, 
  43. printer/GDOS support, TOS conflicts, bugs or conflicts with 
  44. accessories or AUTO folder programs, etc.  If you do find a problem, 
  45. be certain of its cause before identifying it as a bug.  Do not 
  46. hesitate to contact the developer if you have any questions regarding 
  47. their product.  If you do contact the developer, be sure to identify 
  48. yourself as a reviewer for Current Notes.
  49.  
  50.      Arrangements will be made beforehand, but generally you will be 
  51. allowed to keep a product after you have reviewed it.  If you will not 
  52. be able to complete the review in a timely manner (30 days or so), 
  53. please return it to me so that I can send it to someone else.

  57.      Current Notes reserves the right to print, edit or refuse any 
  58. submission forwarded to us.  We will try to include your article in 
  59. the first issue with available space.  Remember, it could be as many 
  60. as four months before you will see your review in print.
